Today I had someone remind me of an old Onion article:

Bush: 'Our Long National Nightmare of Peace and Prosperity is Finally Over'

Scarily enough, I was saying almost EXACTLY that two days ago...and the Onion posted this January 18, 2001.

I'm officially unsettled.
  • Damn... that is so on-target. The Onion rocks, but I didn't realize they were precognitive as well as excellent satire writers.
  • Despair that tires the world brings the old man laughter
The laughter of the world only grieves him
    Believe him
The old man's guide is chance

    "Seven Stones," Genesis, 1971
  • You know it's bad when the New York Times mentions the same Onion article.

Find it on the Paul Krugman archive (NYTimes.com has the article tucked away in their pay-to-read archive now).
