I'd forgotten how often we saw Magritte
Samuel R. Delany, Reading at Booksmith on Haight in May.
Here I'd figured that he'd pass away before I got the chance to meet him. Yay!

Why, is he sick? Last I heard he'd managed, miraculously, to dodge HIV infection despite years of unprotected promiscuous gay sex.

No, he's just rabidly east-coaster... and fairly not much on public appearances on that coast, from all I hear. But instead, he's going to be reading somewhere I can walk to from my very own copies of his books.

Supposedly he lives about 10 blocks from me - 83rd and Amsterdam - but I've never seen him. I've kept an eye out, too.
If you get a chance to chat with him, tell him one of his most rabid fans is a neurologist who lives in his lap.

Hopefully, a mutual friend who did copyedit on Return to Neveryona and Dhalgren will be in town... I'll email him everywhere I can think of right now, in fact.

Please bow and scrape at him on my behalf.
