I managed to narrow down the CRM software options to 4, handed that to my boss, who's installed the lot on a server so I can toy with them in a meeting.
Said meeting didn't happen today, which was supposed to be the day I flew back @ 9 PM. No, said meeting is happening on Friday, because the woman he wants to be the other half of the Community Manager post that I'm half-wearing is flying in on Friday and he wants her there for the meeting to chime in with her thoughts.
I do too. This is not a problem to me: if I'd flown back home earlier tonight, I'd've been working from home anyways. This way, I'm still around the office a bit, and get to help in interviewing the woman whom I suspect will likely be my first direct report.
After doing that, I went out for dinner, rather early, with
I'm so glad to have met you both in the flesh!
And thus back to the office, where I prodded at this and that a fair bit more, and then went back to the hotel. Shoes and socks off, phone rings and it's the boss who wants to go to my favorite bar in Hollywood- the Cat & Fiddle.
So see, Cat & Fiddle was the bar I hit the first time I visited Hollywood as a grownup. And met up with a bunch of other people who were enthusiasts of a band that'd reformed for a tour (Bauhaus), and were playing down Sunset Boulevard a ways (I'm ready for my closeup, Mr. DeMille!). There're several people I met there that I had only chattered with online repeatedly.
That was a lot of fun in '96, and the bar was a lot of fun tonight as well.
Got the drunken boss to his apartment, then walked back to the hotel, wrote this entry, and clicked 'Post to colubra'.
