Tension, apprehension and dissension have begun!

So at present, I am waiting to hear from the contracting gig regarding the fact their VP of networking is talking with the CEO along these lines:
"So we had colubra down a few weeks back, right? Remember how much fun he was- how much useful data he had? Now we're talking about hiring a community manager- a marketing person- for the beta roll-out of our product. Why don't we hire a customer support person as the community manager, who's able to speak Marketingese, and who's used to reporting bugs to dev and networking? that seems a hell of a lot smarter."

  • Leaving you out of it entirely, this seems like a pretty smart idea - if you need a community for your product, you want there to be solid customer service even in beta, marketing growth stuff can come later.

As for it happening to you: eep! and wow! and yikes! and fingers crossed and stuff.
    • I am hopeful. Especially since their networking VP is already saying 'I KNOW I won't get what I need from a marketing schlub'.
  • eee! (and eeeep!) good luck and I shall wish you well in person soon!! (well, you know,m in virtual text-shaped person.)

    do you hear tonight/tomorrow?
  • I don't know from marketing or community management, but I hope this works out in some fashion furthering the end in view of attaining said benefit, or however that bit in Creatures of Light and Darkness went; I unloaded my copy at some point.
    • Ah god, this is going to nag at my brain: I can't find my copy (I was looking for it, recently).

BTW: how do we know each other, Gentle Reader? I've been racking my brain and genuinely wondering how we encountered one another. :)

EDIT to add: OH HI THERE SMARRY.
