It's Limerick Day! Share a favorite or compose your own humorous five-line poem with an AABBA rhyme structure.

A challenge arose from livejournal
to ask I write limericks infernal
I hardly did pause
and the answer? Because
My limericks are composed diurnal.

It bears note that I composed this beast in about a minute flat.
  • While fixing some bugs in this code
    (it didn't support Unicode)
    I entered some kanji
    Instead of romaji
In order to make it explode.
    • And before anyone jumps on me for the lazy rhyme on the first two lines: It's a limerick. Relax.
  • It being early in the morning right after I woke up, I read that as 'an ABBA rhyme structure'.

  • Well aren't you a talented gent
perhaps it will make you a cent
    after hyper-inflation
    lays waste to your nation
even poetry won't pay the rent!
