count only sunny hours
So I have spent today doing laundry.
All day.
Really. up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down the stairs. I've only done about 2/3rds of the laundry that needed doing.
The thing is this: I got in bad habits with last workplace: I was never home, so I often would skip household tasks in the interests of maximizing utility of my free time.
So. Laundry day.

I have too much clothing. *laugh*

In Other News, Wednesday the 20th is the monthly 'go to the Cal Academy of Science Free' day. I'm thinking about organizing a visit. Alternately, for those who live in my neighborhood, we're allowed in free 15-17th of this month, as well (*just bring an ID to prove what zipcode you live in).

Anybody wanna join me?
  • 94117?

I might be into this, not having visited the new academy yet!
  • I am afraid free day would be mobbed senseless. However, I have an out of town guest I may be entertaining, and she might like to see the museum, so we shall see.
    • Apparently free day is mobbed senseless.
However, people in wheelchairs & their companions seem to get Disneyland priority.

I'm honestly thinking of trying to get a half-dozen or so of us who live in the neighborhood (which doesn't include y ou and digitalsidhe anymore, sadly!) together for one of the neighborhood free days. THose, I suspect, aren't any more obscenely packed than any normal day.
      • Huh. I was there not too long after it opened, on a weekend admittedly, and it was packed to the gills. I did not get any sort of priority at that time, despite powerchair with toddler in lap; I had to resort to some rather uncouth measures to get elevator space sometimes. (There were a lot of strollers, and not a few other wheelchairs, although mostly of the "we rented this for Grandma so she won't get tired" sort.)

I would very much like to go back; I didn't get to see my favorite snakes last time. I might join you. Heck, I was thinking it was time to buy a membership anyway.
        • Well, if you want to dare the crowds on free-third-wednesday, I'll join you. I'm thinking CAS and then afterwards? Trad'r Sam's for a round or two of froofy drinks with umbrellas in.

Otherwise, you can find your neighborhood on this handy chart, organized by zip code, and then plan to visit when it's conveniently free, and less PACKED TO THE GILLS.
  • I wish I could go!

And: hey, all that up and down gave you a workout, Mr. Clotheshorse.
    • I'm wishing I'd kept track: I THINK you were HERE for third-Wednesday free day, in Nov. Ah well.

Should you decide to come back this way, we'll definitely have to visit again: there is a lot that I know we missed.

      EDIT to add:
and we didn't even GET TO the Monterey Bay Aquarium!
