So in the process of sharing with a friend a favorite webcomic, I found myself going 'right, I need to show this particular one'. So I dredged up my personal favorite because of how strongly it evoked memories from my childhood: Farrell's.

This led me to doing a bit of idle poking at the intertubes and then showed me this piece of startling what the hell OH MY GODery:
Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour Making Comeback.

Oh.
My.
God.
  • ZOMG SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEELS.

They had these on the East Coast too, amazingly enough, and I remember them fondly. Wow.
  • Yeah. It really isn't Serramonte without the Farrell's, is it now?
    • The one nearest my home was on the El Camino, just north of 92: every time I visit that shopping center I have a little pang of 'this used to be a place full of awesome wonder'.
  • That webcomic is awesome. :)
    • It really is. She only did a limited # of them: it was more an effort at experimenting with various brushes in Photoshop than it was a webcomic. However, 'Dude, it's 8-bean lasagna!' 'B|' 'I'm just messing with ya' will live forever in my heart.

Her husband (spookyfruit) is SCREAMINGLY funny.

I still wish we hadn't chosen, for the one time we hung out in RL, going to see The Talented Mr. Ripley together.

      Movie: *ends*
colubra: Wow, that was a really faithful adaptation of the original book...
      Them: yeah. Yes, it was.
Me: ...I think I need to go home now. No, I'll take the bus.
Them: completely understood. Nice to see you.
  • BURN FARRELL'S BURN!

    vague yet traumatic childhood memories

the reason why i can't stand when people sing "happy birthday to you" at me

  • Whenever I think of Farrell's, I think of this:

  • Zomg FARRELLS. The ZOO. I have in fact consumed part of a ZOO.
  • Oh man... Farrell's! I'd probably hate it now, but when I was a kid that place was better than Disneyland.
  • I would have loved this as a kid.

Hell, I'd love it *now*, that just looks promising and delicious. :)
    • Yeah. If memory serves, the food wasn't all that great, but the sundaes were dreeeamy.
      • ...I had entirely forgotten that they served food. At this reminder, I have dredged memory and determined that there were french fries. Anything else paled in comparison to SUNDAES OMG.
  • WAIT

    THERE'S A FERREL'S IN SANTA CLARITA?

    BRB GOIN' NOW
  • oohh I wonder if we will get one in NorCal. My brother would have to go for his 50th and get a trough.
