Contract arrived in email.

blah blah blah april 10 -> when either/both parties terminate contract blah
blah blah per diem blah blah blah 595 blah blah
blah expenses must be pre-approved before submission blah

...uhm... I think I may just have become gainfully employed. WTF.
  • [eom]
  • YAY!
  • You have just become gainfully employed! FTW, not WTF!
    • ...I uh wasn't even TRYING, is the creepy part.

And 18 weeks of unemployment left. They have me in 1 day a week for the next 18- and they roll live to friends-and-family in that window- and I'll be making 2x prior salary in no time.

Add that they're recruiting in SF area of late-- so if I can cope with a boss in LA, well...

      EDIT to add:
They are A: planning on making an SF office, and B: looking for someone who knows Ruby.

Want I should take your resume and see what they offer?

      • "Tell me more, Bwana!" </Jim Carrey>

Sounds very interesting, in a good way. Why don't I email you for more details?
  • EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
    • So, many years ago, Marlene Dietrich put together a book of ABCs. Alphabetically-organized observations on all sorts of stuff. Very good book (and I'm so glad I found another copy).

Her observation on Orson Welles was that talking to him was much like one's mind is a plant who's being watered.

That's what the 1 day contract was like. Being watered.

      So yes. EEEEEEEEEE.
      • Please, tell me this isn't supposed to make me think of what first comes to mind.

        That being: Houseplants of Gor.
  • congratulations and blah blah blah! :)
  • congrats on the usefulness of blah! does this mean they have to farm you work, or are you just casual and therefore you only get works/money when they toss it to you? (which makes the gainful employment less useful.)
    • The latter, I think, for now.
However the long-term is that they'll need me fulltime. I'm not sure when that'll be, but I'm pretty sure that it'll be.
  • Hooray! Congratulations.
    • Thanks!

I'm mostly wondering how long the contract goes from what I suspect is now-and-again to 40/week.
  • Huzzah!!!!
    • Assuming this goes as expected, I'll be down LAwards (Burbank/Hollywood/WeHo) a lot more often.

Clearly, nose-rubbing in the flesh should happen.
  • This is awesome news!

Also, that is an awesome icon. If I had a job or a clock to punch I would ask for a copy.
  • Snoopy dance!
  • Yay!
  • Well, that is completely full of awesome.
  • Terrific news! *flails*
  • woot!
