But aren't you worried that you might eventually find someone who is like you in every way, sharing all your interests and demographic specifics save for location? You'll start reading his journal, and realise how much you think alike; you'll be amazed that he puts things so much better than you. Eventually, you'll stop writing in your journal at all, instead confining yourself to comments in his journal -- footnotes to his superior expression of your shared essence. Eventually, you'll be nothing more than a final sentence on the back jacket of someone else's novel: 'The author lives in Pasadena with his wife and two children. His shadow lives in San Francisco.'
--though in fairness I know the person in question, and the footnote I might well wind up on the book's back flap would involve living in the same household, let alone city. (Why yes this image WAS still bothering me)
