Go to http://www.musicoutfitters.com and put in your year of birth in the search box. You should come up with the top 100 songs from the year you were born.

Copy the list and bold the ones you liked (really, you wouldn't change the station if they came on) and underline the ones you'd consider a favorite.

  • This is actually useful for me for something I'm writing... thank you!
  • You graduated the same year you were born? I'm impressed.
    • D'oh, I'll be repairing that: i copied that text off wurmfood's entry of his graduation list, which reminded me of the birthyear list.
Thanks for pointing out the error!
  • (no subject) -
  • Well, shit.

I didn't think I was that old, but the Top 100 doesn't go back that far.
  • I don't think I know any of the songs listed there, but Neil Diamond and The Monkeys seemed to be very popular. Frank Sinatra had a hit too.

Frank Sinatra! Wow. I'm old. :)
  • I love that the Kinks is the only one you'd consider a favorite.
    • Mama Told Me Not To Come is damn close to one: 3 Dog Night are a band I don't have nearly enough of in my collection, considering how everything they've ever done that I've heard I've really enjoyed.

But Lola is a song that's a serious favorite of mine. I'm actually growing to have a hell of a lot of respect for Ray Davies as a songwriter which I didn't have even 10 years ago.
  • Maybe I'd have better luck if I looked at the Music From the Year I Was Five Years Old. hm.
