Thanks, Mr. Davis. Here's hoping that John F. Kennedy enjoyed your turn as him as much as I did.

EDIT to add:
city_of_dis mentioned a bit of surprise that nobody's mentioned anything else Ossie Davis did besides Bubba Ho-Tep. In the interests of helping you understand who we've lost, I provide a link to Mr. Davis' IMDB filmography.
  • Despite a long and distinguished career, I always remember his 'suit' exchange with Tom Hanks in Joe vs. the Volcano.

(This comment provided under my account, not my wifes!).
    • EVERYONE remembers that... I think because it was the one moment of Joe vs. The Volcano that really, really worked.
  • That was him? Weird weird movie.
  • I loved that movie. He was a great actor.
  • short shameful confession

I have a tendency to confuse him with Jason "heck I've been deceased for nearly a decade" Bernard. But yeah, Ossie Davis was a great.

  • Damn. I didn't even know he had passed. John Vernon did, too.
  • Da Mayor: Doctor...
    Mookie: C'mon, what. What?
Da Mayor: Always do the right thing.
    Mookie: That's it?
    Da Mayor: That's it.
Mookie: I got it, I'm gone.
    • He was great in GET ON THE BUS, too (which is one of my favourite Spike Lee Joints).
