The Oscar Wilde line about the wallpaper is apocryphal, but I fear that it is now too widespread to be squelched.

I've noticed other apocrypha in there: Julius Caesar's, Gen. John Sedgwick.
But it's still good for a laugh or two.

not to mention Isadora Duncan's "Adieu, mes amis. Je vais la gloire." did she shout it as she was being dragged?
this article from the NYT (1927) says that her chauffeur heard her cries from the street, and then the next paragraph states that she died instantly. hmph.
