...that at the same time that Kerry starts criticizing the current administration publically and pretty scathingly, the current administration goes to get bin Laden, who isn't in Iraq?

...that the guy who masterminded the Achille Lauro hijacking died mysteriously in a prison camp in Iraq, right on the heels of claims that Mossad apparently financed the whole damn hijacking to throw the Arab world into the worst possible light? (you can read this story here)

The sad part of this to me is that the American people don't even seem to NOTICE this shit, and then, as somebody put it on my friends page this morning, go wandering around the golf tournaments of the world, wondering why the rest of the world hates them.

Elect someone else.
  • Not that I disagree with the 'elect someone else' sentiment in the slightest, but I also don't think it's going to help much.

    People suck.
  • (no subject) -
    • I'd thought there was passing mention in that article, there was not. this page, on mediamonitors.net covers the basic source and substance of the accusation.
      To quote from it:

The hi-jacking of the Italian cruise ship the Achille Lauro by "Palestinian terrorists" was later reliably reported by former IDF arms dealer Ari Ben-Menashe in his 1992 book, Profits of War: Inside the Secret U.S.-Israeli Arms Network [...] According to Ben-Menashe, Israeli spymasters arranged the attack through "Abu'l Abbas, who, to follow such orders was receiving millions from Israeli intelligence officers posing as Sicilian dons. Abbas . . . gathered a team to attack the cruise ship. The team was told to make it bad, to show the world what lay in store for other unsuspecting citizens if Palestinian demands were not met. As the world knows, the group picked on an elderly American Jewish man in a wheelchair, killed him, and threw his body overboard. They made their point. But for Israel, it was the best kind of anti- Palestinian propaganda."
  • I'm especially liking how Bush's spokesperson is saying that Mr. Kerry's vague and rather mild remarks constutued a vicious attack on the Shrub hisself. Yup. Vicious. Personal. Never mind everything that'd been said about Mr. Clinton and Mr. Gore while they were in office or running for it. That's not relevant.

Nope. Not the same thing atall.
    • Take note of a similar trend in the world of comedy. Comedians of all stripes had a field day with the Lewinsky scandal, everyone laughed, few if any complained, and many were frothing for Clinton to be impeached over it. But here's an anecdote my supervisor shared the other day:

She and her man went to see George Carlin perform in town a few weeks ago. He started in on a bit about how Bush is most eloquent when discussing the war, but the moment someone mentions the economy, he turns into Rain Man.

My supervisor and co. cheered, but a substantial number booed. And what's worse, Carlin immediately switched to another completely unrelated bit.

George FUCKING Carlin censored himself. That's bullshit. No politician should be untouchable like that.
  • This is why I am going to Thailand. Really, I have given up now the best thing for me to do is wait it out. Come visit when you can.
