There's a Comedienne I want to see.

I'd forgotten how often we saw Magritte

She's British Pakistani, her name is Shaza Mirza, and she was in the New York Times recently.
Shazia Mirza has paid her dues beyond the way most comedians would apply that phrase. She always insists that she is not political, but the sheer heat of her subject matter has cost her dearly. 'I went to Mecca,' goes one joke. 'In front of the holy black stone, where you repent your sins, someone pinched my bum. I like to think it was the hand of God.'" (link to NYTimes article on her: login required)
I think I need to see her perform: she sounds screamingly funny. Brought to my attention by lordjulius.
  • I think there was an article about her in the Chron recently, maybe within the last couple of weeks.
  • In a strange synchronicity, I read that article this morning in a NYT magazine that someone had left on the train. I concur; I would like to see her if she makes it out here.
